Outstretched Wings of the Spirit, by Donald Harrington

Rev. Donald Szantho Harrington served the Community Church of New York from 1944 to 1982. He wrote the Lenten meditation manual Outstretched Wings of the Spirit: On Being Intelligently and Devotedly Religious based on the theology of Henry Nelson Wieman and Regina Westcott Wieman. It was published by the Unitarian Universalist Association in 1980.

As a means of sharing with my congregation what I was reading devotionally in the spring of 2019, I published this manual here. It led to conversations with members of the congregation and the broader community about process thought and my own sense of an access to the holy in the potentials, acts and results of creation.

Posts are organized with the most recent additions first; thus one needs to go all the way to the end (to “Day Zero,” as it were) to read from the beginning.
